LEICESTER CITY - HOME SHIRT 2017/2018

Leicester City were founded in 1884 and are among English football's most beloved underdogs, based in the East Midlands and playing at the King Power Stadium. Nicknamed The Foxes, they wrote one of sport's greatest fairytales just two seasons earlier by winning the 2015/2016 Premier League title at pre-season odds of 5000-1, a triumph that captured the imagination of the entire footballing world.

The 2017/2018 season, during which this classic home shirt was worn, was a campaign of transition. Craig Shakespeare began the season in the dugout but was dismissed on 17 October, with Claude Puel appointed as his replacement on 25 October. Under the Frenchman, Leicester steadied and finished a respectable 9th in the Premier League with 47 points, comfortable in mid-table if some way short of the heroics of 2015/2016.

The cup runs offered genuine excitement. In the Carabao Cup, Leicester reached the quarter-finals before falling to Manchester City on penalties, the tie finishing 1-1 after extra time and 4-3 to City in the shoot-out. The FA Cup brought another quarter-final, this time a narrow 2-1 defeat to eventual winners Chelsea after extra time, agonisingly close to a memorable semi-final berth.

Jamie Vardy remained the focal point, top-scoring with 20 Premier League goals (23 in all competitions) to underline his status as one of the division's most feared finishers. Riyad Mahrez continued to dazzle before his eventual move to Manchester City, while £17 million signing Harry Maguire was named the club's Player of the Year. Danny Drinkwater's departure to Chelsea for a club-record fee freshened up the midfield.
