İstanbul Başakşehir 2025/2026 Conference League Away Shirt

İSTANBUL BAŞAKŞEHİR - CONFERENCE LEAGUE AWAY SHIRT 2025/2026

İstanbul Başakşehir are one of the newer powers in Turkish football, founded in 1990 as the municipal club İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and relaunched under their current identity in 2014. Based in the Başakşehir district on Istanbul's European side, they are nicknamed the Turuncu-Lacivertliler (the Orange-and-Navy Blues) and also the Boz Baykuşlar (the Grey Owls). They play at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, a 17,800-seat arena opened in 2014 and named after the legendary coach Fatih Terim.

This Conference League away shirt was worn on the European nights of the 2025/2026 season. Having qualified through their 2024/2025 league finish, Başakşehir entered the Conference League in the qualifying rounds and saw off Bulgaria's Cherno More and Norway's Viking to reach the play-off. There they came unstuck against Romania's Universitatea Craiova, losing the home leg 2-1 and going out 5-2 on aggregate, denying them a return to the league phase.

Domestically the season was a tale of two halves. Başakşehir made a dreadful start, winning just once in the opening nine rounds and tumbling to 16th in the Süper Lig. Çağdaş Atan had already gone, leaving after the European exit and two opening league draws, and former Borussia Dortmund boss Nuri Şahin took over to eventually steady the ship.

Şahin's impact was telling. Başakşehir recovered superbly to finish 5th on 57 points from 34 games, winning 16 and losing only nine. Leading the revival was Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov, who top-scored with 22 league goals to share the Süper Lig's top-scorer prize, with Davie Selke chipping in 10 of his own. A poor start had been turned into another European qualification.
