HOFFENHEIM - THIRD SHIRT 2024/2025

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were founded in 1899 and hail from the village of Hoffenheim, a district of Sinsheim in the Kraichgau area of Baden-Württemberg. Nicknamed Die Kraichgauer, they play at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim. Theirs is one of the game's most improbable rise stories: the village has a population of only around 3,300, yet thanks to the backing of SAP co-founder and lifelong supporter Dietmar Hopp, the club climbed from the amateur leagues all the way to the Bundesliga, which they reached in 2008.

The 2024/2025 season, in which this striking third shirt was worn, marked Hoffenheim's 17th consecutive year in the top flight. It was a campaign to forget. Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was sacked in November and succeeded by Christian Ilzer, but results did not improve, and Hoffenheim finished 13th on 32 points, with only seven wins from 34 games and a goal difference of minus 22. Relegation was avoided, but only just.

The cup competitions offered no relief. Hoffenheim were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal, and their UEFA Europa League adventure fizzled out in the league phase, where they finished among the bottom sides and missed the knockouts altogether.

The reliable Andrej Kramarić, Hoffenheim's record goalscorer, led the way once again with 11 goals. New signing Adam Hložek added a handful more after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen, but a leaky defence that conceded 68 league goals ultimately defined a season spent looking nervously over their shoulder.
