FIORENTINA - HOME SHIRT 2025/2026
Fiorentina were founded in 1926 and represent Florence, the Renaissance jewel and capital of Tuscany. Known to everyone as La Viola for the deep purple they have worn for almost a century, they play at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The famous colour was a happy accident: the club's original red and white kits were washed in a river and faded to purple, and the shade has been their identity ever since, worn alongside the lily of Florence on the crest.
The 2025/2026 campaign, during which this iconic purple home shirt was worn, was the club's 99th season and their 22nd in a row in Serie A. It proved a turbulent one. Raffaele Palladino resigned in the summer and former boss Stefano Pioli returned from Al-Nassr, only to be sacked on 4 November after a dreadful winless start left Fiorentina bottom with four points from ten games. Daniele Galloppa took interim charge before Paolo Vanoli was appointed, and the Viola eventually climbed to 15th with 42 points.
Europe offered the brighter memories. Fiorentina came through a play-off against Polissya to reach the UEFA Conference League phase, then battled all the way to the quarter-finals. There they met eventual winners Crystal Palace, winning the home leg 2-1 at the Franchi but going out 4-2 on aggregate. In the Coppa Italia their run ended with a heavy defeat to Como.
Moise Kean led the line and finished as the club's top scorer with 8 Serie A goals, with Albert Guðmundsson weighing in with important strikes. Veteran Edin Džeko featured up front before a January switch to Schalke 04, and the winter window saw plenty of change, with Pablo Marí leaving for Al Hilal among the departures. The pick of the league days was a 5-1 romp in December, Kean helping himself to a brace. Former Manchester United keeper David de Gea was Fiorentina's number 1.
