Cerezo Osaka 2021 Limited Edition Shirt

CEREZO OSAKA - LIMITED EDITION SHIRT 2021

Cerezo Osaka trace their roots to 1957 as the works team of Yanmar Diesel, before being reborn as Cerezo Osaka in 1993 to join the newly formed J.League. Based in Osaka, they take their name from the Spanish for cherry tree, a lovely nod to the cherry blossom that is the city's own flower. They play at the Yodoko Sakura Stadium, and their academy is the stuff of legend, having produced Shinji Kagawa and Takumi Minamino among others.

This striking limited edition shirt hails from the 2021 J1 League campaign, a season of upheaval in the dugout. Brazilian boss Levir Culpi was sacked in late August and replaced by Akio Kogiku, and Cerezo eventually finished 12th on 48 points from 38 games. It was a stop-start league year, but one that will be remembered far more fondly for a run to a major cup final.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto was the standout throughout the season, ending the campaign on 12 goal contributions. Sakamoto later went on to join English side Coventry, and was a vital part of their 2025/2026 Championship winning season.
