ATLETICO SAN LUIS - HOME SHIRT 2025/2026

Atletico San Luis were formed in 2013 from the ashes of San Luis Futbol Club, and since 2017 they have belonged to the Atletico Madrid family, which is why they wear the same red and white stripes as their Spanish parent. Based in the colonial city of San Luis Potosi, the Potosinos play at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras (currently branded the Estadio Libertad Financiera), a tidy 25,709-seat arena opened in 2002 and named after an early local football pioneer.

This season came with real upheaval, as Domenec Torrent left for Monterrey and 36-year-old Spaniard Guillermo Abascal, a former La Masia youngster with coaching stops at Basel and Spartak Moscow, took the reins for the Apertura 2025, during which this striking home shirt was worn. It proved a frustrating year: San Luis finished 15th on 16 points and missed the Play-In, and the struggle continued into the Clausura 2026, when they placed 14th and again fell short of the final phase, with Abascal dismissed that March.

The cup calendar offered a change of scene, as San Luis headed north for the 2025 Leagues Cup, drawn against MLS opposition in Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake and Minnesota United, a useful summer test against North American sides.

The one shining light was Italian forward Joao Pedro, who struck 12 goals across the Apertura 2025 to share the tournament's golden boot, a remarkable individual haul given that his team finished well outside the qualification places.
