BANGLADESH - HOME SHIRT 2024

Bangladesh are the national side of a country where football runs deep, governed by the Bangladesh Football Federation since 1972 and roared on from the National Stadium in Dhaka. Nicknamed the Bengal Tigers, they carry the hopes of a vast and passionate support, even through lean spells on the international stage.

The 2024 calendar year, in which this red-and-green home shirt was worn, was spent battling in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers. Drawn in Group I alongside Australia, Palestine and Lebanon, Bangladesh were up against it, and under Spanish head coach Javier Cabrera they finished bottom of the group without a win. In March 2024 they drew a home crowd of 37,432 to Dhaka for the visit of Palestine, a reminder of the appetite for the game even when results were hard to come by.

It was a rebuilding year rather than a vintage one. The qualifying campaign brought difficult afternoons against stronger, higher-ranked opposition, and the team's focus turned towards blooding younger players and building for the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers to come.

Forward Rakib Hossain remained a key outlet, while young attacker Shekh Morsalin continued to catch the eye as one of the brightest talents in Bangladeshi football. Cabrera, who would go on to become the longest-serving coach in the team's history, kept faith with a youthful group built for the longer haul.
